Women have evolved a great deal in the past 50 or so years, from being expected to primarily keep house and raise children to “having it all”, many would say women have come a long way thanks to the Feminist movement. But, in the past few years, there’s been a lot of talk about what Feminists might have gotten wrong and what they maybe should have paid more attention to. If you’ve never read the classic Opt Out article, it’s a great place to start in order to understand why some women aren’t fond of their “have it all” option. This article wonders how we might fix feminism and offers a different kind of movement called “careism”. This article allows us to explore that maybe the dreaded housework –that is still a feminist issue, as can be seen here –should be given a bigger voice within the movement. Lastly, on the issue of women and childcare Maternal Desire asks us to contemplate if daycare is really the solution to our “childcare problem” or if it’s much deeper than we realize. Lot’s of thoughtful stuff, we hope you’ll enjoy thinking about womanhood a bit more in depth.
